Tarragona Public Library is a centre with 160 years of history. Specialising in information about the 9 comarques of Tarragona and, in particular, the city itself, the Library is owned by the Spanish state and managed by the Autonomous Government of Catalonia. It was created in 1846 with the aim of protecting and preserving the bibliographic resources of the monasteries of Santes Creues, Poblet and other monastic orders in the province.
